Cornyn race articles from Dallas Morning News

Dallas Morning News on Monday gave Dem challenger Noriega a soapbox while barely mentioning Mikal Watts. In the same article, they also write up the launch of the statewide Republican effort Texas Victory 2008.

A look at fundraising in the U.S. Senate race:

John Cornyn: The Republican incumbent reported raising $2.1 million from April through June and had $5.4 million on hand.

Mikal Watts: The Democrat, who started his campaign in the middle of the period, raised $1.1 million and added $3.8 million of his own money, for $4.9 million on hand.

Rick Noriega: He just started his campaign and doesn't have to report on fundraising until later.

The Victory 2008 effort is interesting to us. In all, we'd like to see a statewide effort that stays ahead of the Dems. Watts already is showing an aggressive online strategy, with tentacles into blogs and forums.

Let's begin the process of putting Cornyn on our federal slate.

First, go to Brad's stump speech, http://www.bigredtent.org/john-cornyn and tell us why you want to help re-elect Cornyn, even if you want to echo Brad's sentiments.

Second, make a comment or e-mail the page to someone who should be supporting Cornyn.

Third, watch to see when we launch a vote for putting Cornyn on the slate.
